Distinguishing marks: Oris is bluish-grey with silver-grey runes marking his etire body. He usually wears high quality silk robes, a larger pouch for his orb and some spare pouches for spell component and the like. He wears a silver 4-point star pendant with a circle around it in the center of his robe.

Bio:

Oris came into existence suddenly in a stone circle in the Highlands to the east of Drakesbury in the year 1096 in the same manner all Deva come into existence. For a long time after he appeared, he stood there without moving trying to sort out various shadows of memories that were floating in his head. It was as if he was walking through a deep mist and every time he caught a glimpse of something, it was gone before he could turn to follow it.

A couple local children from Drakesbury were playing in the area and saw him appear. They were frightened initially and ran away, but after an hour or so their curiosity got the better of them and they returned to spy on the strange bluish figure. When they returned, they saw him just standing there not moving at all. He didn’t blink or twitch and from the distance they were looking from, it didn’t even appear as if he was breathing. After a while, the braver of the two decided that it must be a statue and declared that the statue warranted closer observation. After several minutes of daring each other, one of them cautiously left the safety of the bushes they were watching from and slowly began to approach the statue. As the child came within 50 feet of the statue it turned suddenly and looked right at her. She had never been so scared in her life. It was like a man, she could tell that much at least because he had no clothing on, but it was entirely bluish-grey and covered with strange silver-grey runes of some sort. His hair was the same color as the runes and fairly short, but tt was hard to tell exactly how long because it was slicked back. He was really tall; at least 6 foot 5 by her estimation. He had a light build; gangly, but athletic. What freaked her out the most was his eyes. As his attention turned to her she saw that his eyes were as white as snow and lacked any sort of iris or pupils. It didn’t take anything more than that and she was off at a sprint leaving the ruins. Her friend had a head start as he was off as soon as he saw the statue’s head turn. Neither of them stopped running or looking back until they paused ever so briefly to recount their story to a priest from a nearby abbey that was walking down the road. The children didn’t stop running until they got home where they promptly hid, but the priestly calmly headed towards the ruins chuckling to himself, remembering a time years gone by when he was as young as the children and was frightened by something that now seemed silly. The priest recognized from the story what the children were scared of and was excited to see first hand what he had only read about in the past.

The priest did find Oris and took him to Sunfire Abbey where he was invited to live and learn. Oris showed a natural aptitude for history, nature and religion and quickly excelled in these subjects. While Oris felt a deep respect for all of the good deities and felt comfortable worshiping them all, he felt a special connection to Avandra from the day he appeared at the ruins. Perhaps it was that connection that made Oris uncomfortable staying in the same place for prolonged periods of time. He prefers the freedom of moving every couple weeks, if only to another temple where he will offer his services for a while in trade for food and shelter until he feels the need to move on again. His only extravagance is the fine robes he wears, so he does not want for anything beyond the basic necessities of shelter and food.

He currently resides at the staff lodgings in the Conlegium Arcanum where he tutors young students. He enjoys his time there because he is able to pursue his arcane studies easily. In the past year or so he has begun to long for more extensive travels and Drakesbury has started to feel confining for him. That along with all of the stories of “strange things” happening everywhere have called him to leave Drakebury and see what the lands have to offer.
